ELIGIBILITY
The minimum score for admission to the undergraduate courses is as follows:

PROCEDURE
No pre-admission from in any format (Physical or online) is required to be filled in by students for admission purposes. The college shall convey to the University the cut-off marks for various courses (for the General and OBC categories), as per the schedule announced by the University. After declaration of the cut-off lists by the University, the student will need to report to the college for admission within the stipulated period. At this stage, the student would be required to fill the college admission form and the University enrolment form. The student would then get her/his documents verified and pay the admission fees. In courses where admissions are done through entrance exams, separate procedures shall apply. For admission under the Sports categories, the college may use Sports application forms. These application forms shall be made available by the college.

The College shall admit all students who have marks that meet the announced cut-off criteria (except where the admission is done through separate entrance). No first-come-first served policy is applicable or permitted.

IMPORTANT DOCUMENTS FOR ADMISSION

Candidates selected for admission will be required to fill up and submit the Admission Form along with the original certificates and attested copies of the following:

    1. Provisional School/College Leaving Certificate.
    2. Marks Sheet of the last qualifying examination passed.
    3. Original Certificate of Matric for date of birth.
    4. Character certificate from the School/College last attended.
    5. Two passport size self-attested photographs
    6. Admission slip issued by the university (in case of reserved categories only) Caste certificate for SC/ST/OBC (as per the central list) candidates
    7. College leaving / migration certificate, wherever necessary.
    8. Any other Certificate for qualification into a category

Selected candidates are required to deposit all fees by the due date after the notification of their selection. The fee is payable in cash at the bank counter in the college during the banking hours only, i.e.10 am to 2 pm. All admissions are provisional and subject to the approval of the university on submission of the university enrollment form.

Compliance with the above minimum requirement does not necessarily ensure admission to the college. The cut-off percentage of marks will be notified on the college notice board as per the schedule announced by the university.

RESERVATION OF SEATS
In keeping with different University policies, the College offers Reservations to the following categories of students:

  1. SC, ST and OBC candidates.
  2. Children/Widows of Armed Forces Personnel including Para Military Personnel
  3. Blind/Physically Handicapped Candidates
  4. Admission on the basis of Sports and Co-curricular Distinctions

 

SC, ST and OBC Candidates

22½ % of the total number of seats is reserved for candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste /Scheduled Tribes (15% for Scheduled Caste and 7½% for Scheduled Tribes, interchangeable if necessary). The College will follow the University of Delhi rules for admission in OBC category (27% of total number of seats).

Candidates belonging to both these categories, who have passed the last qualifying examination, would be registered. Such candidates however shall be required to fulfill the requirements of admission as detailed by the University Information Bulletin. 
Relaxation to the extent of 5% in the minimum marks will be given to the candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes and OBC to determine their eligibility and merit for admission to the course concerned.

In case, after giving 5% relaxation, the reserved seats still remain vacant, further relaxation would be given to the extent required in order to fill up all the reserved seats.
OBC Candidates:
At the time of giving admission to an OBC candidate, the College will ensure that

The College will simultaneously bring out a separate cutoff for the OBC category. The difference between the General and OBC cutoffs shall not be more than 10%. If the seats meant for OBC remain vacant on the last date for admission i.e. 13/07/2011 the same will be filled up by other eligible candidate by 23/07/2011.

SC and ST Candidates:
For purpose of registration the candidates will be required to apply on a prescribed form available at the Registration Centers, along with the Original certificates as well as two self-attested Photostat copies thereof. The candidates are required to bring the SC/ST certificate issued in their own name. The following certificates are required: 
i)  Provisional or original Senior School Certificate examination or an examination recognized as equivalent thereto.
ii) Mark - sheet of the Senior School Certificate Examination or an examination recognized as equivalent thereto.
iii) Two self attested photographs of the Candidate.
iv) Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe Certificate in original issued by anyone of the following officers:
a) District Magistrate/Additional District Magistrate/Collector/Deputy Commissioner/Addl. Deputy Commissioner/Deputy Collector/1st Class Stipendiary Magistrate/City Magistrate/Sub Divisional Magistrate/Assistant Commissioner.
b) Chief Presidency Magistrate/Additional Chief Presidency Magistrate/ Presidency Magistrate.
c) Revenue Officer not below the rank of Tehsildar.
d) Sub-Divisional Officer of the area where the Candidate and/or his family normally resides.
e) Administrator/Secretary to Administrator/Development Officer (Lakshadweep, Andaman &
Nicobar Islands).

Note: (i) SC/ST students who get admission under open merit will not be included in the reserved quota i.e. 22.5%.
(ii) SC/ST/PH candidates can also seek admission on their own merit as applicable for the general category.
However, they are entitled for other benefits as available to such categories.

PHYSICALLY CHALLENGED CANDIDATES
3% seats are reserved for the physically challenged candidates for admission to under-graduate Courses. Physically challenged candidates who secure admission on merit in the General Category should not be counted in the 3% quota. Candidates seeking admission under reservation shall be required to fulfill other criteria of admission as detailed in the eligibility conditions. Candidates seeking admission in this category should apply for registration to the Dean, Students Welfare Office (DSW), University of Delhi (North Campus). .

CHILDREN AND WIDOWS OF THE OFFICERS AND MEN OF THE ARMED FORCES INCLUDING PARA-MILITARY PERSONNEL KILLED/DISABLED IN ACTION OR THOSE WHO DIED/WERE DISABLED WHILE ON DUTY
5% of the seats in each course have to be offered to the Children/Widows/Wives of Officers and Men of the Armed Forces including Para-Military Personnel, in the following order of preference:
i. Widows/Wards of Defence personnel killed in action;
ii. Wards of serving personnel and ex-servicemen disabled in action;
iii. Widows/Wards of Defence personnel who died in peace time with death attributable to military service;
iv. Wards of Defence personnel disabled in peace time with disability attributable to military service;
v. Wards of Ex-servicemen personnel and serving personnel including police personnel who are in receipt of Gallantry Awards
(Above categories are also applicable for Para military personnel)

Relaxation to the extent of 5% in the minimum marks in the aggregate or in the subject, as the case may be, will be given to the candidates of the above mentioned categories while determining their eligibility to the course concerned. For purpose of registration, the candidates are required to submit their applications on a prescribed form available at the Registration Centre, along with two self-attested Photostat copies as well as the originals of the required certificates which will be returned to them after endorsement on the reverse of the original certificates.
In order to become eligible for the above concessions, the Children/ Widows/Wives of the Officers and Jawans etc. will be required to submit the certificate of educational concessions (in original) from anyone of the following authorities:
a) Secretary, Kendriya Sainik Board, Delhi
b) Secretary, Rajya/Zila Sainik Board
c) Officer-in-Charge, Record Office
d) First-Class Stipendiary Magistrate
e) Ministry of Home Affairs (For police personnel in receipt of Gallantry Awards)
Note: For additional concessions, students are advised to contact the Principal of the concerned college.

 

ADMISSION ON THE BASIS OF SPORTS

Candidates seeking admission on the basis of Sports must apply on the prescribed forms issued for the same. The forms inviting applications for this category will be available in the College Kindly see Notices for Sports Admissions . Further clarifications for such admissions can be made from the concerned college authorities.
 
Not more than 3% of the total number of seats separately both in Honours and B.A. (for 1st Year of the UG courses) will be offered for admission on the basis of sports.
 
The admission on the basis of sports shall be finalized by the College on the recommendations of a Sports Admission Committee of not more than five members consisting of the Principal and Teacher(s) in-charge of Physical Education as members. This committee shall be constituted for the purpose by the college.

Candidates who have participated at International Level will be given direct admission. The weightage of 75% be given to the Certificates/Achievements of the candidate and a weightage of 25% be given on field trial.
 
Note: The dates of trial for sports quota will be notified on the College Notice Board.

 

MIGRATION
Migration is not a vested right of any student. The College does not permit any migration to or from the college in the Ist year. The Principal, as and when she deems the cause to be genuine and compelling may use her discretion to grant permission for migration.

 

RE-ADMISSION
 Re-admission in the College is not a matter of right for any student. A student whose name is removed from the college rolls for non-payment of fees or any other reason, may be permitted re-admission at the discretion of the Principal, on written request. Such re-admission shall be on the payment of re-admission fees, arrears of tuition fees and fines, immediately after the permission has been granted. 
No student who has failed in the Ist year B. A/B.Sc. (Hons.) course will be admitted to B. A./B.Sc. (Prog.) II year class if she/he fails to come in the merits prescribed for admission to B.A./B.sc. (Prog.) Ist year at the time of her/his admission in the College. However, mere fulfillment of the eligibility conditions is no guarantee of securing admission in such cases.

WITHDRAWAL/REMOVAL FROM THE COLLEGE

A student may withdraw from the College by writing an application to the Principal on a prescribed form available, intimating the date of withdrawal. In case of withdrawal of admission before 31st July 2011 only Rs 5/- will be deducted. Withdrawals after 14th August, 2011, Rs30/- will be deducted. Thereafter only caution money will be refunded. In case she/he fails to withdraw, she/he hall continue on the rolls of the college for maximum period of two months and will be required to pay all the fees and other charges which may become due for the period.  
The Principal has the power to remove the name of student (s) from the college rolls if in her opinion she/he (i) is grossly irregular in attendance (ii) is not amenable to college discipline (iii) is guilty of negligence in studies (iv) is not found fit for the course chosen by her/him or (v) has not paid college dues on time.

 

BASIC RULES

  • Unlawful activities in the College campus/premises are strictly prohibited.
  • Each student must carry and show on demand her/his Identity Card provided by the College.
  • Mobile phones must be out of bounds in areas specified by College authorities.
  • The student should not invite friends/relatives in the college without the prior permission of the Principal.
  • Sitting on stairs is strictly prohibited.
  • Students are not allowed to bring their personal vehicles inside the College premises.

 

COMPLAINT/SUGGESTION BOX
A complaint/suggestion box is maintained in front of the Principal’s office. Students may drop in their complaints or suggestions in the box.

PROMOTION RULES FOR ALL UNDERGRADUATE COURSES UNDER THE SEMESTER SCHEME

  • Pass Percentage and Promotion Criteria:
  • The minimum marks required to pass any paper in a semester shall be 40% in theory and 40% in practical wherever applicable. The student must secure 40% in the end semester examination and 40% in the total of end semester examination and internal assessment of the paper for both theory and practical separately.
  • A student shall be eligible for Promotion from I year to II year of the course provided she/he has passed 50% papers of Ist and IInd semester taken together.
  • Similarly, a student (irrespective of part I results) shall be eligible for promotion from IInd year to IIIrd year of the course provided she/he has passed 50% papers of IIrd and IVth semesters taken together.
  • Students who do not fulfill the promotion criteria (b) and (c) above shall be declared Fail in the part concerned. However, they shall have the option to retain the marks in the papers in which they have secured pass marks as per clause (a) above.
  • A student who has to re appear in a paper prescribed for semester I, III and V may do so only in semester examinations to be held in Nov/Dec. a student who has to re appear in a paper prescribed for semester II, IV and VI may do so only in semester examinations to be held in Apr/May.
  • Reappearance in Past Papers
  • A student may reappear in any theory paper prescribed for a semester, on forgoing in writing her/his previous performance in the paper (s) concerned. This can be done in the intermediate subsequent semester exam only (for eg., a student reappearing in a paper prescribed for semester I examination, may do so along with subsequent semester III examination and not along with papers for semester V).
  • A candidate who has cleared the papers of part III (V and VI semester) may reappear in any paper of V and VI semester only once, at the intermediate subsequent examination on forgoing in writing her/his previous performance in the paper (s) concerned, within the prescribed time period.

Note: The candidate of this category will not be allowed to join any Post Graduate Courses.

  • In the case of reappearance in a paper, the result will be prepared on the basis of candidate’s current performance in the examination.
  • In the case of a candidate who opts to reappear in any paper(s) under the aforesaid provisions, on surrendering her/his earlier performance but fails to reappear in the paper(s) concerned, the marks previously secured by the candidate in the paper (s) in which she/he has failed to reappear shall be taken into account while determining her/his result of the examination held currently.
  • Reappearance in practical paper shall be not allowed.
  • A student who reappears in a paper shall carry forward the internal assessment marks originally awarded.

Note 1: As per decision of the Executive Council the College shall charge an amount in Indian Rupees equivalent to US $ 100 per year from every foreign student admitted in the college. The amount thus collected will be used by the college for providing better facilities to the students of the college. Tibetans being refugees in India are exempted from payment of fee that other foreigners pay.

Note 2: Post Graduate students of the college will be required to deposit Rs. 1000/- as Library Security (Refundable) in the College.

Terms of Payment

  • Every student must deposit his/her fees with the college cashier on the dates notified by the college from time to time. A fine of Rs. 3/- per day will be charged after the expiry of he notified dates. The name of the defaulting student shall be struck off the college rolls after the last working day of the same month.
  • A student whose name is struck off the college rolls on account of non-payment of dues shall not get the benefit of attendance during the period.
  • Fees once paid are refundable as per the University rules only.
  • Caution money is refundable on an application made by the student, within a period of 6 months of his/her leaving the college and after paying/ clearing the cost of breakage, loss of books and other outstanding dues, if any, as per rules.

 

Fee Concession and Stipends

The college awards fee concession to needy, deserving and meritorious students to the extent of 20% of the total fees collected during the year according to rules. Application on prescribed forms is to be submitted to the Fee Concession Committee of the college. The college also provides exemption of Tuition fee and Admission fee to all Scheduled Castes/Tribe students whose parents’ income is below the taxable income, on production of a certificate obtainable from the office of their parents mentioning that they are not liable to pay income tax.  

 

 

 

POST GRADUATE COURSES

Students who wish to join Post Graduate Courses must submit their applications to the college on the prescribed form after their registration in the University on the dates to be notified by the University of Delhi. The names of candidates accepted for admission to M.A. will appear in the list to be notified by the university. M.A. students are expected to attend tutorials in the college and lectures in the respective Departments.
